The Sport
Surf lifesaving is one of the world's most demanding athletic disciplines. Athletes compete across open ocean swims, sprint runs on soft sand, paddleboard races through breaking surf, and surfski kayak events, all while maintaining the skills and physical readiness of active, professional ocean lifeguards.
These are not weekend athletes. They train alongside the public, protect the coastline by day, and compete at the national level all summer long.
Recognized by the International Olympic Committee and under consideration for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, surf lifesaving is growing rapidly in prestige. Partnering with VSLA places your brand at the forefront of this global athletic movement, with roots right here on the Volusia County coastline.
The Governing Body
The USLA is the governing body of surf lifesaving in America. VSLA competes as a recognized USLA chapter. From local beach events to national championships, every competition is held under USLA standards, drawing elite athletes and large public audiences.
Who We Are
The Volusia Surf Lifesaving Association is the premier competitive surf lifesaving team on Florida's east coast. Our athletes are Volusia County's own active ocean lifeguards. They are on the beach training before sunrise, competing up the coastline on weekends, and constantly visible to the public we serve. We are always causing a scene or responding to a scene, and your brand will be front and center when we do.
As a recognized chapter of the USLA, we combine athletic excellence with a mission of public safety and youth education that resonates across the entire community.

What Comes Next
We are a team in ascent. Building on our first place finish at the USLA Southeast Regional Championships, the Volusia Surf Lifesaving Association is growing in numbers, in talent, and in ambition. Each season brings new athletes, stronger competition results, and deeper roots in the Volusia County community.
Our long-term vision is to host the USLA National Championships right here on our shores.
The National Championships is the premier event in American surf lifesaving, drawing over 1,000 of the nation's best athletes for a full week of elite competition. The top performers go on to represent the United States at international events the following year. Hosting this event would put Volusia County on the national map as a destination for world-class ocean athletics.
